Tuesday, Mar. 18, 2003 a. - 11:45 p.m. Overcast today and a soft rain falling tonight. Brenda did very well on her finals, made 100% on both tests, which was very good as there were over 200 questions on the State exam. Her medical background stood her in good stead. She got home early, but her feet are still so swollen. She called in and Dr. A, who is still sick himself, though improving, told her just to increase her b/p med. as there is a diuretic in there, and get those feet up, so hope that helps. Steph and Nicky didn't go out to brush down the horses this afternoon, as it was drizzling, instead they walked to the Homewood for treats. We had another little scare with neighbor Moe this afternoon. I had just come home from picking up Steph from school and fixed a cup of coffee so I could sit down and watch Oprah. I thought I heard a roar from outside, and looked over to see Moe's door half open and I could see him on the floor. I sloshed down my cup, yelled to Norm, Moe's down, and we ran over. Had to go in the front door, good thing he doesn't lock them. We made sure that he wasn't in any pain and could move OK, and had Norm get a pillow so he could just lie back for a minute while we talked to him. He was ready to get up, so he sat up for a bit, and then we helped him to a kitchen chair. Eventually he was able to go in to his recliner, with a lot of help, and got settled there, with a cup of hot chocolate, and the TV and the phone nearby. We called his son, who said he would come on down tonight. Another older neighbor walked down later on too, and then came back with a walker. By that time his son was there, so I went over to tell him about the meds from Sunday. I don't think he needs any more of the muscle relaxant. That may be his trouble, or some of it. He did say that his little dog had pulled at him, but then he was lying the wrong way for that. He said he had been there for a couple of hours, but his timing is off, so I don't think it was that long. Good thing that his basement door was closed or he would have gone right on down. And good thing that we have side doors and can see each other, or I never would have heard him from a back door. We'll see what the morning brings, but I'm afraid that this will be the end of his living alone now. I cut out more of the basket blocks this morning, but didn't get to sew on any of them yet. Reading Honor Lost by Norma Khouri, about her best friend, who was Muslim, who fell in love with a Christian boy, in Jordan. They were very careful, but her family discovered the friendship, and so murdered her. The author is here in our country now, letting people know that this still goes on. It looks like Mike is on messenger, so will talk to him for just a bit, as my eyes are closing fast.
